Civil war, revolution, Israel, USA or GOD. I
Revolution? Every time they try to rise up, they get shot by the moral police, especially the women.
Yes Iran has brutally shot down and beaten the demonstraters.
This may be the only thing we ever agree on.
I donât see why this is an issue. They have to bring in money and this is one card they can play.
Seems like a reasonable charge and nice they allow the serious catholics to pray for free.
To me, the most beautiful church in the world is Eglise Notre Dam in Montréal. They charged to get in as a tourist, but not to attend services. We did both. We went as tourists and we attended mass the next day. It was the most beautiful church service I have ever attended.
Wasnât that where bribe taking Mulroney had his public service. Have to admit it looks nice.
yes, remove all government subsidies and tax benefits and let believers pay for their own nonsense
You know, if we made church attendance mandatory, Iâm not sure the world would be worse off. Iâm quite sure both the Netherlands and Canada would improve. I donât support doing this, Iâm just admitting the outcome.
lol in what way would it improve anything?
Look at the gross monstrosities we have turned our nations into. I think there would be less of that if everyone went to church.
lol what monstrosities? all i see is 2 wealthy democratic countries with very high standard of living conditions
ok, perhaps you can say which country, where most people go to church, you would prefer to live in? nigeria? kenya? lebanon?
How about the Netherlands and Canada 50 years ago? Things werenât better then. I am under no delusions. But some things were better. Men were men, women were women, and we didnât adjust societal norms to accommodate statistical outliers.
Letâs see. 50 years ago, hubbies in Germany still had the legal last word in decisions. Rape within marriage wasnât legally punishable, whereas homosexuality still was. Reggies vision of paradise, lol.
I admitted things werenât better overall then. I just note some things were better.
people not being able to be themselves, having to lie to others in fear of their safety⊠mostly because of what is taught to people in churches⊠you really think that was better?
-
People have always been able to be themselves. They werenât allowed to pretend to be something theyâre not. Or more accurately, society was not obligated to indulge their delusions about who they are.
-
Living in fear of their safety has been a total red herring in the western world for over 30 years. Yes, there are some statistically irrelevant acts of violence that donât change the fact that there is effectively no such safety concern in the western world.
-
Mostly because of what is taught to people in biology classes.
-
Yes, I think that was better.
interesting, yes in western democratic countries people (or at least those that are strong enough to stand up for themselves) are mostly able to be themselves now because democratic laws are there for everyone
those laws usually stop the real delusional people (those that believe they somehow have the right to force others to live their life only in the way they tell them to) from harming others at the risk of imprisonment
in countries where the majority attends churches people are brainwashed to see other ways of living as an abomination and somehow as a threat and undemocratic laws are available to support those harmful believes which makes fear and violence a reality there
feel free to live in the place you believe is better lol
Some of what you said has merit, Nico, but this part is just nonsense. I donât want to force anyone to live as I do. Wear your dresses, Nico, and have butt sex with all the men you want. I wonât stop you, and Iâll defend your right to do it. Just donât ask me to indulge you by pretending youâre a real woman, or that your behaviour is normal.
