I couldn’t name a Dixie Chicks song but I remember when they almost had their careers destroyed by right wing nut jobs for saying this (below) on stage referring to W. I respect them for that, even 20 years later.
“Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President is from Texas.” ~The Dixie Chicks
I remember this also. AND as I recall it wasn’t what they said that offended people. It was the fact that we were going into a war and at home we should be standing together in support of our president because the world is watching and they had a great deal of influence at that time. I actually don’t remember their fame lasting long after this.
I hope that, if my country ever goes into a stupid and unjust war, I will have the strength to NOT stand together arm in arm with the murderers and instead stand strong and speak loudly about what is right, not what is convenient for my nation. I’m a member of the human race first.
the germans have their talented pianoman thomas kruger who sometimes likes to play on pianos in airports and train stations
here is a more entertaining british variation: brendan kavanagh aka dr k;
a brilliant (but sometimes annoying lol) guy that does the same to promote boogie woogie with all kinds of people:
Neil Peart died. He was lead drummer of Rush. Some say he was the best of all time. I don’t like Rush at all, so here is another amazing drummer. Mitch Mitchell of the experience. I guess Jimi was a pretty intense perfectionist and hard to play with. Or he was incredibly demanding. Funny that he let his drummer freestyle so much. I wonder how long Jimi would have lived for nowadays.
