Today is Mothers Day in Germany. As a kid, I rather looked down on my Mom, and looked up to my Dad instead. Only as an adult I realized, how wrong I was. When you begin to realize the socio-economic connection and power as well as chance disbalance behind peoples behaviour and their status. My mom was in many ways stronger than my Dad and I am immense greatful to her. I also hope, I made up to her since my adult days.
What I am greatful to my Dad is for the freedom and the trust he gave me. My Mom never would have allowed me to ride alone into the forest or travel alone. Hell, I wouldn’t have gotten a horse and still not drive a car, lol.
Great you had a good Mom. Mine called the police on me with a made up charge and when my Grandparents wanted to give me and my brother their old Polaris she refused it. She eventually became a red faced (covered up with make up) 7 day a week drunk and died at 73. Her Mom made it to 92.
Robbie Robertson might be my favorite Canadian musician. I can’t think of another Canadian musician that I enjoy listening to more. I think I’m the only here that likes Leonard Cohen’s music, but I would much rather listen to Robertson.
He died in 2023 of pancreatic cancer at the age of 80. Getting to 80 as a musician for that long is a feat.
My wife joined chorus again after not singing for 5 years. The concert is on June 12th and 13th. Lots of Bob Seger, which I’ll enjoy. She is a bit burnt out and rehearsals are on Mondays, which is a tiring start to the week. It’s good to have a hobby where you have to do something. I think singing is her only real hobby.
Maybe this Canadian girl. It’s mindless pop but I liked it decades ago. Although it’s pretty bad if this is what I consider to be the best Canadian music of all time. lol.
