This song did grow on me, the more I listen to it. It can‘t compete with other songs like Done With Bonaparte, Postcards From Paraguay or even Sailing To Philadelphia, but I really, really like it. Just that „Hawaii guitar sound“ is too much for me.

But now I need to work and concentrate. For the latter I need to put a song on repeat, for that my mind doesn‘t feel the need to analyze and ponder about lyrics with every other song which comes up on the radio or Spotify. At home there usually only run maximum 3 songs throughout the whole day, which helps me to be relaxed whatever complications get served to me and kept focused.

Having my 15 minute coffee break. This song is still running, because it’s evenly melody is perfect for work. Albeit it’s such a sad song, I love these very first two lines dearly due to the positive aspect of it as well as the typical Knopfler style pronouncing the letter “b” when singing “for a big beat in a big life”. This makes me smile every time.

There was a train leaving for a big beat in a big life.
Are you coming? I may have asked you once or twice.

Beautiful lyrics. Love the song. Never heard of that band before.

Like it with Bono best, but hey, it‘s Chris Martin. Can‘t be really bad. Especially with The Edge playing, the typical U2 vibe sets in anyway.

God, how time passes by.

I dislike Oasis, but this childrens choir version of their song Champaign Supernova is fantastic. I just didn‘t find a longer version yet.

I remember posting this years ago. Darryl hated it. It was polarizing. I think it’s a billion times better than the original.

I wonder how he’s doing. Odd pup. Hope he’s well.

Never heard that version before, but I like it very much. It of course serves less that typical U2 sound. But listening to her part and giving room for the idea of getting less U2 - it‘s really great.

Why was or is this version polarizing?

Oh cool, thank you very, very much, thinki!

Ah yes, I now remember, that was even no flick by some YouTuber, but that whole flick was part of the show, when Luci had left Chloe and his unborn to go back to hell and wait there for Chloe, to not endanger the real Happy End to happen in the future and for eternity. Sigh. :+1:  :dizzy:

This song really fits.

PS: Charlie getting his wings was a nice topping at the end, lol.
I will repost this video you found on the tv section. It‘s the best one to end it.

Jesus, so many posts by me this morning already, but it was fun to start my day with it. This will be the last till tomorrow, as the rest of my Saturday is packed with work.

I want to post this U2 song I detected yesterday for the first time. I still haven‘t had the time or felt the need yet to look up the original one, because I LOVE this simple version to pieces. How could I miss this song when I was young.

Ok another post, lol, as I am listening to this version with that Blige duet while writing the card for my niece to congratulate the parents and to welcome the new citizen to earth.

I think Bliges part enriches this song immensely as a strong counterpart. Amazingly powerful. I too love this version indeed better than the original.

I love the whole lyrics (and the music). From the lyrics the 4 lines are the most intense to me: Blige sings them so beautifully angry and powerful, that they nearly burn.

You say love is a temple
Love is a higher law
You asked me to enter
But then you made me crawl

original is not that bad, but this version is much better!

its also more fun to see one of the greatest guitarists of all time play on a keyboard

Yes, that took me by surprise as well.

It’s nearly a sin to post another song after those two U2 gems, especially having that Blige-part still in my ears, but I just found another choir version of Oasis’ Champaign Supernova, which I like. So I post it very humble, lol.

I meant it was just polarizing on this site. I think someone besides darryl hated it too.

God, was it me? I honestly don‘t remember. If it was me, then I deeply appologize to Mary Blige. I only can say, that I love her part even more than Bono’s and don‘t remember having even listened to this version before you posted it here a few days ago. Or maybe I didn‘t listen till the end but stopped too early. I must say, I am a vivid U2 fan and maybe I didn‘t give her a fair chance back then. But then again, I don’t know if you even refer to me here. :woman_shrugging:
