I am trading emails with my ex and I decided to post this excerpt about fame here:
Harold’s non-legacy has been very meaningful to me, along with the non-legacy of a guy you have probably never heard of, Bernie Ecclestone, and the non-legacy of Donald Trump. I will explain even though it’s boring.
Bernie is a billionaire who built Formula 1 into the giant racing enterprise that it is. He was also its absolute ruler, its major domo, and its ship’s captain. He made all the decisions. He was Formula 1. Anyway, a few years ago he sold it and everyone expected him to kind of rule it in absentia. He didn’t. He just disappeared. Once he no longer wrote the cheques (checks if American spelling), nobody cared about him at all anymore. He’s now reduced to doing an interview for a historical piece every few months. It’s not that he doesn’t seek the spotlight, the spotlight just doesn’t seek him anymore.
Same for Trump. Everyone told us how he was going to dominate politics from Mar-A-Lago. Instead he has vanished from the news just a few months after vacating office. He is effectively nobody. The only news he makes is about whether he’s going to jail.
Same for Harold. He doesn’t belong in that group as he never really achieved anything, but even his ardent followers have forgotten him. He doesn’t even make a good Google search anymore.
Anyway, what I have taken from this is something we all know in our minds but not in our guts: fame is fleeting. What I would now add to this is, fame is fleeting, it always passes, and it makes you look like a total failure once it does pass. It is a no-win game and should be avoided like heroin. It’s not even that the odds are stacked against you like at a casino. I mean you truly can’t win this game. You are running on a treadmill until you can’t run anymore and you fall off. It might take you a short time or a long time to fall off, but fall off you will, and you will look like a failure when you do and that’s all people will remember.
I have decided to live quietly and die anonymously.
This is really strange. You posted that he disappeared but that he didn’t stop seeking the spotlight. My only question here is how can a person disappear and seek the spotlight at the same time? He obviously wanted space from the spotlight or maybe a vacation from it but famous people don’t get a break from fame so I can’t believe he really wanted to hold on to the fame he had.
I have real issues with this post. If you would step out of that corrupt media news outlets bubble and search other platforms, you may find that Trump is busy every day fighting for America. He just had a rally a couple of days ago. He went to the border and exposed the truth there, which everyone already knew but when the Democratic Party goes on air every day and says there’s no crisis when there is, nothing Trump says will matter because the stupid media has an agenda and it doesn’t involve covering for Trump. It involves covering for China and Biden, our useless president that no one voted for but you lie and say they did.
Unfortunately, every act Trump performs is twisted in MSM to resemble something nefarious. I mean, if he says he’s going to Russia someone in the media would swear on a stack of Bibles that he’s going there to be pissed on. If Trump goes on air and says piss on Russia, the media would swear on a stack of Bibles that he was showing his vulgar ass to the world by pissing on the streets of Russia. Lie, lie and another lie but who gives two shots what the truth is. All we can be allowed to hear from MSM is that he is a failure. He’s the worst piece of shit the world has ever seen. So many lies. He’s the best thing that has happened to us but that can’t be covered because people might actually believe his work is good. Although after 4 years of lies how can anyone believe anything other than the worst. They painted him black and seared that picture into liberal minds, when in reality he really hasn’t done anything wrong and their own investigations and search for dirt have proved that repeatedly.
You’re describing life not fame.
In life, people look at you as a failure while you are alive and breathing. Nothing you do is right and everything you say is scrutinized and people have no problem telling you, sometimes, in special ways, to go to Hell, a place many people don’t believe is real, which is a bold faced lie that people who are going to Hell want everyone else to believe so they won’t be alone in Hell.
When people die, all their best qualities are then remembered. Their smile, their personality and their works, if they had any. In death, a person is always fondly remembered and the assumption is always made that they are finally at peace in Heaven because death is so difficult to deal with no one can imagine anything less.
I’ve said many times over the years that we either speak life or we speak death.
