Graham Platner is a former Marine and current oyster farmer running for US senate in the democratic primary in Maine. He is crushing his democratic opponent and ahead of the republican incumbent by about 6%.

Most retired marines I have met are extreme and appear to be extremely liberal or extremely conservative. They also seem to be either extremely intense or extremely calm. Once they retire, they seem like freethinkers. He seems intense and calm, but definitely is on the left. I don’t think he could be more liberal.
