Well. Each day at the hospital gets more disappointing. The state lab is no longer accept covid specs. I guess they are so backlogged, by the time the result came back the person might not have it anymore. It would take over 10 days to get a result, so they have stopped for now. We stopped all flu testing. Covid and the flu are collected the same way. In the same swab, so to save swabs we have stopped. We have no way to test for covid right now so maybe we will go back to flus. Since it took so long to decide what to do for testing at my hospital, we are unable to get reagents to test on 2 different platforms. The vendor needs permission from the government to release reagent. We have 40 patients in isolation that have had samples colleceted and no way to test them. I believe we can do a manual method. Myself and 2 other people in the whole lab are the only ones that can do it. I was busy today, but not with specimens. It is still a ghost town. Even moreso, now that we canât test for covid.

I also appreciate these updates, but Iâm disgusted at whatâs going on. From what I hear, itâs just as bad in Canada. I hope that we learn from this and improve our systems when things return to normal.

Yes we should be testing for the infection first, not the disease, the satge at which damage is already done by the infection. What good is it then? You do notneed a COVID-19 test kit. You need a SARS-COV-2 test kit.
Diesease is caused by infection. The infection could be Bacteria or Viruses or Fungi or Protozoans or Helminths.
We should be testing for infections, not diseases. The damage is already done with the disease, they should be be just giving theraflu or lung draining treatment s to people with the disease, whatver complications.

there is a little town here called baarle nassau / baarle hertog which is basically half dutch and half belgian
now with the different corona rules in our countries basically in one half of the street all the shops are closed (side of belgium) and across the street (on the dutch side) all the shops can be open⌠very strange
lol even weirder; there are houses there that are partly on dutch and partly on belgian territory, so if she is pregnant and decides to have a natural birth in her own house then the location where the baby is born in that house will be deciding if that baby is belgian or dutch!?! lol
I guess if the Dutch police are chasing them they can just run to the bedroom in Belgium. I suppose they could bring in Interpol.

We were able to send out the 40 inpatient specs to Beth Israel hospital today. We are merged with them actually. I think it just took them a while to validate. Actually, that is lightning fast but this is an emergency so the validation doesnât take as long. As long as they can get reagent, we can test.
