They express their opinion about the viability of various economies. They have no power beyond expressing their opinion.
You’re going to try to “dismantle” a system in which people express their opinions peacefully?

That’s not really true, Reg. Their ratings serve to influence banks and mortgage companies. A poor rating would hurt a country’s ability to do business with any other country.
Don’t be silly, Reg. I would rate them poorly for misrepresenting their negatively expressed, peaceful opinions as necessary when no country or even individual would have to concern themselves with such nonsense if everyone was using the Gold Standard.
It is probably okay for China to provide military aid to Russia for use against Ukraine but we should probably think twice before providing aid to Ukraine for use against Russia.

China sells weapons to Russia, as does Turkiye and many other countries.
The west gives weapons to Ukraine.
There is a significant difference.
Oh, I see. So really what you’re saying is that Russia deserves to win this war because they have fought it fairly. I agree.
Actually I am saying Putin is a pig and I hope he dies, but Russia is paying for their own war. The US and the west are fighting a proxy war in Ukraine.
It is barbaric and cruel to deny medical care because you have a low social score in China. Obama tried to pass something like this with Obamacare only no score was required to be penalized. It just had to be unaffordable to suffer his mandated penalty.
Agreed. It’s also barbaric and cruel to deny medical care because you don’t have enough money in the US.
How much do you really think they feel when they set new death penalty guidelines for diehard supporters of Taiwan independence.
Yes China is an expansionist dictatorship with a very bad human rights record. Taiwan has every right to be an independent nation just like Slovakia who split from our NATO ally Czechlosovakia a few years back. China has a history of threats against other countries and has killed Indian soldiers along its border with China and props up the hyena, pariah state of North Korea which threatens S.Korea and Japan a lot. I respect ppl that boycott Chinese products though I am not a part of it. Canada today announced possible tariffs on Chinese EV’s which must make Mr. Musk happy.
You will never put enough tariffs on China to break them. They are ruthless, not to mention the fact that they are backed by all the terrorist nations in the world. I feel sorry for
Taiwan. China treats them as if they contribute nothing to society.
Canada and the US are both almost irrelevant to Chinese EV domination. The don’t sell any cars here, now. They won’t in the near future. But they are on track to build half the world’s cars by 2030.
Even worse, we are biting ourselves in the ass with these sanctions (even though I support them). Sure, we save our car industry for a few more years (I’m not sure if it will last much longer) but we have to pay $70k for a car that the Chinese can buy for $20k. The Chinese can buy several good electric cars right now, today, for $10k. We can only dream of this.
What does this do to all our other industries? Our software industry has to pay people enough to buy a car and a home and to lead a normal life. So does their software industry. But if everything costs three times as much here, our software will cost three times as much. All sectors are affected. It’s a total no-win situation.
Canada and the U.S. will have to lower their standards. Use cheaper material, pay more for entry level openings and hire minors. We can compete in this market but the U.S. doesn’t want to compete. They want to dominate. I don’t see it that way. If Hunter Biden can splash paint on a canvas, call it art and sell it, the U.S. will have to bend to useless eater needs but I do think they will resist, until Trump takes office.
And leaving visible marks on our economy but it will last because someone in America is out there building an affordable car that will fly.
Did college teach you positive reinforcement?
I no more than posted when I read the article below and reality set in. We have no plans to fly. Clearly, we are going to micro-shrink.
You see that little car and think “omg the world is ending”. I see that little car and think “omg the world is finally coming to its senses”. That thing costs about what a monthly bus pass costs in most large cities.
No, Reg, I see that car and think, what happened to the future in affordable air travel? I know it exists but maybe it’s just not ever going to be affordable.
I am about to fly with Isa, business class, to Bogotá, then Medellín, then Piedecuesta, and possibly out to the Coffee Region (Eje Cafetero), and it will cost me $0 because I use a points credit card.
A week in Guatemala at a gorgeous hotel cost me $2500 or so for two including flights (economy).
Travel has never been so cheap.
Maybe for you in Canada but every purchase I make costs me what feels like a small fortune but I don’t want to be flown around. I was referring to flying myself.
It’s great you can save your points and act like teens in your old age. Hope you enjoy your trip.
I don’t know any teens having this much fun.
