Nihal Sarin is the only prominent GM I’ve seen blame Kramnik. Even if he didn’t use his name.

Right.

It’s a sad story. He wasn’t even 30.

I don’t blame Kramnik for this suicide. I just say he’s a C.

Seems a little extreme. Some have compared Magnus to Kramnik with the cheating allegations, but Niemann did cheat, so I don’t think it’s the same.

I am calling on the FIDE EDC to remove Vladimir Kramnik from the FIDE record books, revoke his title, and disqualify his world championship. Chess is one of the most beloved games in the world and should be a place for kindness and inclusion. It should be unilaterally unacceptable to use a platform that Chess has given you to bully, harass, and slander a colleague.

Insanity. Kramnik won that WC. I dislike him, but he won. The idea that a game that is focused on destroying your opponent should be ā€œa place for kindness and inclusionā€ is amusingly silly.

I agree. Fischer has said worse.

Well, I think the point here is that your opponent should beat your mind on the board, not your soul.

Candidates tournament seems pretty open.

Hikaru

Caruana

Girl

Pragg

4 guys I’ve never heard of.

It’s now or never for Hikaru. I think his wife is pregnant, so not great timing. I wonder if he’ll retire if he doesn’t win.

I never would’ve seen that queen sac. And even seeing it, I couldn’t have finished that endgame. lol.

Karjakin is the 2nd most nauseating chess player, right behind Kramnik. That was a great day in the chess world.

The candidates tournament starts March 28th. Will be a bit of a boring championship if Pragg wins. Caruana has a chance. By far his best chance. Same with Hikaru.

Pragg is a boring player and person but I like him because he’s unattractive, humble and grew up poor.

I agree with all of that. I found Kasparov vs Karpov boring. I’d find Hikaru vs Caruana boring. I find two competitors from the same country competing to be boring. Thankfully, Russian dominance is long gone.

Humpy Koneru has withdrawn from the women’s candidates. The tournament is in Cyprus. Too close to Lebanon and Syria.

She’s taking some heat. I don’t think I’d go either.
