The unhappiness of the owner is rooted in his desire for validation through ostentatious acquisition, which the car can’t cure. I say this as a guy who has owned a few penis extenders in my life and hoped for validation through ostentatious acquisition. Now I drive a VW and love my life.
Too bad I don’t relate or live close. I need to seriously look at a car next year.

If the US ends up banning China totally, it will just bite them in the ass. China has too much to contribute to ban them imo. Making them play fair is totally reasonable, however, and to get there you have to THREATEN to ban them and even START banning them knowing that you’ll relent in the end. This is what Trump has started doing and I don’t find it unreasonable. I did at first but now I think he was right.
He’s still an idiot on all other fronts, however.
Well if china starts selling cheap electric cars here I’m hoping that drives down the cost of other electric cars.

Well, if your car has a normal double-din slot for the stereo, you can usually replace it with a good aftermarket unit. I like Android-based ones because it gives me real Google Maps, which is just so much better than all the other mapping software I’ve used. If you don’t care about that, there are ton of non-Android units that can be had for less money and from better brand names. It’s a fair bit of work to install them so you might want to get a pro to do that.

When I finally make it back home, I fully expect my car will not start, and I’ll have a one or two thousand dollar bill waiting for me to get it fit for the road. It’s been sitting there for a year. After a few weeks of driving, if I decide to keep it (which I probably will as it’ll be winter), I’ll plan to revisit the car thread and start ticking off the shopping list I created.
I think at this time I need to replace all hoses and belts.
I don’t think this would work for me. I’d get killed on the highway going zero to sixty in 12 seconds. Heading in the right direction. Perhaps the chinese will drive costs down.

It’s very rare for a car on the road to do 0-60 faster than 12 seconds. When I was 16 I had a 1 litre Suzuki that was totally gutless but it got around fine. Power is overrated.

Looks like lucid is making some new electric cars made in California. One of them can go over 500 miles on a range and has over 1000 horsepower
I guess it costs 169000 dollars. Could get 7 rav 4s for that price.

That’s interesting. I just skimmed the article. What else is being increased besides to torque or rotational force? This engine does not have a crankshaft or flywheel I assume. I don’t know what the driveshaft or differential might look like. But if all the things the same and simply the rotational force produced by the engine is increased, I am assuming it is underpowered to begin with. Was it not engaging gear teeth before?
