Boating

So sad. Little Florida ballerina.

Interesting. This is a Boston Whaler 42 (pictured). I don’t see how you can hit a teen who is wakeboarding with her friends in that boat (either in forward or reverse gear) without noticing it. In a giant motoryacht, it’s possible. Not in that boat. I wasn’t there, though. There is more to this story.

We lost a 12 year old family member like this about 30 years ago and you’re right, there is no way they couldn’t have felt that but if there’s more to it, I’m not sure I want to know but that little girl had a life and he took it so there needs to be an investigation and if he is hiding something more, he should be prosecuted for that.

Only picture of my dad’s ship of service. Not the only one as he did several months on a submarine(6?). Submarines still sink today, but you can imagine what it’s like with the technology and design way back then as compared to now.

USS Jouett (DLG-29) was a Belknap-class cruiser laid down 25 September 1962 by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington; launched 30 June 1964;

Wikipedia has a more recent picture in 1992.

I think we have some shells from it. I dont think it was ever hit.
Navy before your modern day Navy.

Nice post, Mark.

Thank you. Most people do not know the actual cost of a boat like that and why by far any military vehicle/aircraft/ship is far far more expensive than a civilian craft even if a luxury vessel or infused with diamond headlights.

It’s all branches of the military as we see in this video with 90k bag of bushings. It’s almost blackmail to ensure quality if they want to do it that way.

Navy has the real tonnage though.

Underdog seamanship. The Philippine vessel is drawing fire (water cannon) away from fishing vessels and being aggressively tailgated by the Chinese coast guard . Then unexpectedly it looks like the Chinese Navy with a much larger ship cuts off the coast guard protecting the smaller Philippine Coast Guard patrol boat, when it actuality they tried to ram the patrol boat from the side.
Both Chinese vessels have massive damage with a large hole punched in the paper tiger thin Chinese steel Naval boat and smaller (yet larger than the Philippine coast guard patrol boat) has its bow totally smashed in (paper tiger steel).
The Phillipine Coast Guard patrol boat after avoiding the ramming attacks by both Chinese vessels by feet and having them collide with each other then dangerously cross in front of the Chinese warship to survey the damage on the other side which appears to be either a polygon shaped paint loss exposing black undercoat or a hole. With the Chinese Coast Guard vessel dead in the water the Chinese Warship instead of stopping to help begins pursuing the Phillipine Coast Guard with its hull damage.
It’s actually the Phillipine vessel first to offer medical help

Most of the Phillipine military is discounted cost older US aircraft etc. All though they have been purchasing other newer ships and vehicles and aircraft and military increasing in size and training it’s a much lesser of a force. To receive U.S. aid you have to show guile and tact like this as well as the ability to endure and not waste resources. Just like in WW2 if fighting occurs in this region the brunt of the damage will be taken on by the Philippines.

Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and others being more and more imposed on especially with this 9 dash line are watching to see who will stand up to China. And more and more they have been. If there was an alliance they could probably push back and contain China without the US help or intervention .
That could happen or the US might just back one or two nations in the region. Taiwan perhaps. The others might stand back or see the opportunity.

That’s really good seamanship. Both in maneuvers and etiquette.

Not to mention Australia.

Philippine President says his country will never back down defending its South China Sea interests and would inevitably, reluctantly be drawn into any war over Taiwan due to its proximity and Filipino workers there.

What about Australia?

First story also has military aircraft incident. They are testing US response.

“Paper Tiger” originally had a different meaning.
This is what it has evolved to in terms of metal, believe me these doesn’t just extend to tariffed after market auto products, it’s their “showboat” largest navy as well.

It’s a real shame it’s most likely not just hull damage. If you watched the video moments before the collision as the Chinese coast guard ship is speeding up to try to ram or catch up alongside the Philippine Coast Guard to use the high pressure water cannon you can see at least 2 men trying to position some kind of buoy and about 5 in the front of the shop in the area you see totally crumped later. The Phillipine coast guard barely had a second to catch visual of their faces, which is most likely they took the chance to remain in the area and radio to offer medical assistance. The Chinese warship just kept going with no regard to their own coast guard personnel or even if the ship would remain afloat.

Paper Tiger. The hull can’t probably even withstand firing its own cannons over a dozen times before giving to structural stress. The vessel is what you call a glass cannon.

You could probably puncture it with a hand held harpoon from a wooden boat .

I doubt that.

They were in a bigger ship. Maybe they didn’t feel it when the collision took place.

It’s not a war ship you dingdong.

Chinese ships were a cutter and a destroyer. My dad’s ship I posted above was a cruiser.

Well you can see the size of the blind spot. How’s your driving Michele? That Hyundai easier to park than a boat?

Thanks for posting this.

All ships have radar and sonar and they often post lookouts stern bow and midships.

The Chinese coast guard crew tried to put up some kind of cushion for the impact last minute, and you can see something being hung or placed over the front of their ship.
I know there are a lot of different fluids an.engine needs and they come in a variety of colors.
That’s usually the stern area.
Even I noticed the red water from the splash.

Edited* stern

It was a cushioned impact. That’s like me punching a hole in the side wearing boxing gloves. Also is that black paint or is that polygon in the front a hole?

I can push a button and it parks itself. It’s that easy.

What classifies it as “cushioned”.
