I don’t know if this is true, but if it is, Belarus should be on my bucket list.
I can’t remember the last time I saw bubble gum on a sidewalk or on a parking lot. When I worked at gas stations in the 80’s and 90’s I sometimes had to scrape such things off the ground when it was slow.
The govts of Canada and UK recommend strongly against travel to Belarus. The govt there is a dictatorship ruled by the same man for 30 years. Mass civil disturbances a few years ago were put down by Russian troops.
OMCT says there has been 300 political arrests since March 2025. Torture they says is widespread.

Yes, I agree with all that. I’m not supporting the Lukashenko dictatorship. I’m just noting that I like clean sidewalks. It is interesting to me that Belarus and North Korea appear to have cleaner sidewalks than most western countries. We should ban smoking and chewing gum.
Cache Creek BC has old sidewalks but they are clean. North Korea is very clean ppl can’t afford junk food and there is almost no tourism.
