Jonny 5 update

Hello, everyone!

How’s it going out there? Me, I’m doing well. I think. Just out of day surgery earlier for inguinal hernias on both sides. I’ve got at least 2 weeks off (thanks to surgery of course) and just hoping to reconnect with you guys a bit. Been pretty busy the past few years. Been working the charter fly-in, fly-out program for the LNG project in Kitimat. I’ve also started my own company (StoryForge), which I may change the name as it’s videography and after starting it I’ve found other companies with the same name. Mainly events for jobs, and currently yet to do a website. Although there isn’t much I can show anyone, as the contracts I’ve sold the clients the rights - which is the best way to go in northern BC I’ve found - I almost started it as a photographer studio but the photographers here are a dime a dozen. Anyone got any suggestions for creating a website, I’m out of the loop here.

Other than that, I’ve been doing the family thing. Clark is now 5. Time. Really, each year is fast. It all blends together.

Drinking. I haven’t drank in a long time. This helps with the boys. Hopefully to raise them without the fear of their father that I had. It’s a struggle. The anger, the emotions that are just bottled up. I went to a program earlier this year in Prince George called Transformations and it dealt with this issue. I never did blame my dad for this, but deep down I really did. I’ve let go of that. Here I am, haven’t been around and come back telling you all my daddy issues lol

Anything I’ve really missed with anyone?

Just a note; I haven’t seen Dave in town for quite a while, I’m guessing over a year now. Hopefully he’s found treatment, or his family picked him up

Hi Jonny. Nice to hear from you. It seems from a distance that you have a good attitude on what sounds like a stressful life. I think almost everyone has stress now. Or over 90%.

I don’t drink much. Not on purpose. Just can’t afford to lose energy so just don’t consider it. I’ve had 1 drink in the last 2 months.

My life is pretty good. Work is stressful but rewarding. My life is better than most. I know how lucky I am to live where I do. It’s one of the best places in the world.

Glad you got sober. I did that about 3 years ago blood pressure went down as did my belly flab and my face cleared up and no more blackouts or hangovers or explosive excrement.

Hope you heal from your hernias properly.

Same here. I look at the job I have, and I went from grunt to supervisor of a team. And before this, management at Walmart - a terrible job. I am so thankful for how things worked out, as manager at Walmart here in terrace, I saw the work mentality of this area. I’m so lucky to be where I’m at, plus I worked hard at it. Only other option was to travel for work and that’s not me, I like being at home lol Plus I actually get paid. I don’t know how to put it, it’s similar…luckier than most - I just think a lot of locals don’t know about better jobs up here and they let themselves get stuck in that lifestyle. Then the herd mentality blames TFWs on lack of jobs. Good to hear from you, man!

Thanks, Greg. Good to hear, I’m not sure how long I’ve been sober, I didn’t keep track. My other half hit 4 years sober I’m somewhere over a year. Congrats on your 3 years

Johnny, great to see you’re doing well. Sounds like you’ve got a bunch of things on the go. Hope that hernia heals fast. With the Orange Idiot down south making trade there painful, Kitimat could boom as we try to sell overseas.

BBAD hasn’t changed much. Neither have any of us, really. We’re all just older. lol.

speak for yourself, iam still 18 forever lol

welcome back jonny

I’ve watched it boom here for a while. I started out while it was a dirt pile covering a swamp, and there was a company that did their metal recycling. He was the owner, running it himself. He’d grab the stuff, head right down south with it, and come back for more. Now he’s got a fleet. So many companies have been successful for to the project. Even my last videography job - In the meeting before I got hired, they told me to charge whatever I felt because they were sponsored by Newmont and LNGC as well. As for the orange idiot, personally I think that helped us. I don’t care either way, I only get one piece of gear from there and I’ve found a better alternative for the future.

I’m glad not much has changed here I guess. I’ll have to catch up on a couple threads. And I really hear you on the older bit. I feel it all the time. Hell, the nurse that checked me in to my surgery and got me prepped, I have an Xbox Live account older than him

Edited; A couple spelling mistakes. There’s probably more but I don’t care after finding two lol

Thank you! 18 forever, eh? I don’t even remember that age. I don’t even remember my age right now! ‘83, so 42? Math is hard

Awesome a sober couple !

Besides the jobs already heading to Illinois another 1,200 from a brake plant in Ontario just plain gone it was announced today. Be great if Kitimat could sell aluminum to other markets than America. Liked my trip to Terrace a few years ago wonder what a small house or corner apt would cost there. Liberal muckmuck said Thé Conservatives demands on the deficit ( no more than 42 billion dollars ) are unreasonable . That there will be an election if the budget falls. A nice winter election in the freezing cold and slush. Vote Conservative.

18th birthday I was in the backyard playing I’m Eighteen by Alice Cooper off his Greatest Hits album. Still have it. Seen Cooper in concert 3 times.
