This is exactly right, and Gunda touched on it a few days ago. This is a sick universe, where we have to survive by killing and eating other things. We rescue stray dogs and post warm and fuzzy pictures of them on FB while we turn around and kill a billion chickens a week. We make a huge fuss over baby seals being killed but we have no issue with pigs being bled to death by the millions. All our efforts to improve conditions for the weakest among us go against the natural and intrinsically evil design of the world. I am entirely unconvinced that we can ever remove cruelty from this universe without destroying it.
It is indeed a cruel world. I can say that I’ve met a couple of true sadists in my life and just being around them is disgusting.
