True in many cases. What countries have a higher % of population with homeownership than America? My sibling used to make frozen pizzas as a young adult he now owns two houses. Various ppl we went to
high school with own homes. You own a home and a boat and had a rough young adulthood with no employment.
Canada has a higher rate of home ownership than the US at about 66% but both countries suck overall.

Chinese home ownership is similar to buying a home on native land here in Canada. You own the structure and a long-term, transferable lease on the land. It is totally reasonable to me.
And I’m not saying anywhere is “better” to live than anywhere else. I am saying that our system has priced home ownership beyond the reach of most young people, and that wealth disparity makes it an impossible dream for a huge percentage of mostly-young Canadians.
The USA is so messed up that I don’t have any recommendations for them aside from getting rid of most MAGA people and all billionaires.
Buy a home on Native land ? That is not allowed in Canada. Yes I know young ppl in BC several promotions and a $200k saved who can’t the place they want. Immigration the last decade has made housing prices skyrocket.
Tons of properties in BC are on leased land, mostly on native land, some on city land. Many of the condos by English Bay in Vancouver are on leased land (City of Vancouver). Same for many of the properties on the south shore of False Creek (City of Vancouver). Some of the houses on SW Marine drive out to UBC are on leased land (Musqueam Nation). All the homes actually on UBC are on endowment land (99 year leases). Tons of homes in the Capilano Reserve of West Van are on leased land (Squamish Nation). The Squamish Nation’s Sen̓áḵw project by the Burrard Bridge will have 6000 homes near downtown Vancouver on leased native land.
You might be thinking of us not being allowed to buy homes on native reserves fee-simple, which is true, but you can buy a leasehold interest on reserve land if the band has structured it that way (e.g., Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh projects).
